As yesterday's defenders of freedom, we want to welcome today's military service members into our ranks to become part of our elite group. Our common bond is the battlefield, whether it is service in the Persian Gulf, Korea, Kosovo, the Global War on Terrorism or peace-keeping expeditionary campaigns. Your courage and sacrifice have made a difference in preserving and defending world peace.
ALREADY A MEMBER OF THE VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS (VFW)
If you are already a member of the VFW at another post around the country, you can transfer your membership to George L. Wood VFW Post 5594 by using the VFW Post Transfer Form. Completed documents may be mailed or hand delivered to George L. Wood VFW Post 5594, PO Box 472, 15 Milford Street, Upton, MA 01568.
BECOME A MEMBER OF THE VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS
The fundamental difference between our organization and other veterans organizations is our eligibility qualifications. There are three primary requisites for membership in the VFW of the United States: (1) U.S. Citizen or U.S. National (2) Honorable service in the Armed Forces of the United States (3) Service entitling the applicant to the award of a recognized campaign medal or as set forth in the Congressional Charter and By-Laws and Manual of Procedure and Ritual. Review the Eligibility for the VFW and either (1) attend one of our community events or monthly meetings to fill out an application, or (2) apply on line through National - New Member Application. BECOME A LIFE MEMBER OF THE VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS
By becoming a VFW Life member, you make a lifetime commitment to serving your fellow service members and veterans. You'll also avoid annual dues and renewals, maintain your membership in any Post you choose, never pay an increase in dues and receive a 10% discount on exclusive VFW store merchandise for the first year. You can become a VFW Life member by making a one-time payment, or you can pay for your Life membership through an installment plan with an initial $45 payment and the Life membership amount billed over an 11-month period.
BECOME A LEGACY LIFE MEMBER OF THE VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS
Legacy Life membership enables VFW Life members to leave a lasting impression on our great organization. Three prestigious levels of Legacy Life membership are available: Gold, Silver and Bronze. Each level offers generous benefits reserved exclusively for Legacy Life members. Once your Legacy Life membership begins, an annual endowment in your name will be made to your Post, Department and the national organization. You will feel confident knowing your contributions to our organization are not only helping today’s veterans but the veterans of tomorrow. You may also purchase a Memorial Legacy in the name of a deceased VFW Life member to help future generations know and remember their sacrifice and contributions. Not eligible for VFW membership? Did you know that the American Legion meets at our Post? Marshall-Leland Post 173 is a great partner in helping us carry out VFW events but it also has its own programs. In fact, some veterans are members of both organizations.
