Upton, MA - VFW Post 5594 is pleased to announce the 10th Annual Run to Remember 5k will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2019. The event begins at 9:00 AM, with registration from 7:45 to 8:30 a.m. inside the VFW Post building, 15 Milford Street (Rte. 140), Upton, MA.
According to Shawn Craig, Post Commander, “The funds we raise support our Post home, events, and community programs. This can take many forms whether it’s our scholarship program for local high school seniors, or helping us provide a small gift during the holiday season to a veteran’s widow. In recent years we’ve sponsored a few slots at Camp Resilience in Gilford, NH to help the recovery of wounded warriors from Central MA.
The Run to Remember 5k race is a family friendly event open to all skill levels. Walkers are welcome on the 1.4 mile course, and children ages 2 – 10 are welcome for the Kids Fun Run. Awards will be presented after the completion of all events. The race honors all Active, Reserve, and Guard members and veterans who served our country in the past. Each participant will wear the name of a veteran they wish to honor; however, the Post will stand ready to provide names if the runner does not personally know a veteran.
Pre-registration is encouraged as the registration fee is $20 while the “day of race” registration price is $25. Onsite registration for the Kids Fun Run will be available from 8 to 9:30 a.m. on day of event. The Kids Fun Run starts at 9:45 a.m. Cost is $7 and every kid gets a medal!
